The Seattle Kraken Expansion Draft logo was revealed this morning at the end of a video released by the team announcing the hiring of its first head coach, Dave Hakstol.
The draft will take place on Wednesday, July 21—just two days before the 2021 NHL Draft. We don’t know a lot of details yet, but I’m assuming the team will want to arrange some sort of event for fans to attend here in Seattle.
Now, about the logo!
The core feature of this mark is the monster’s red eye hiding inside the “A” of the word Draft. The logo also showcases the Kraken’s new custom typography, which has recently been seen in social media graphics and will be used on the club’s uniforms.
Here’s a closer look at that for my font-loving friends.
The next step in the slow brand reveal of the Kraken should be the team’s uniforms. Preliminary renderings of the jersey designs were revealed last summer when the team announced its name and logo. But to this point, we have yet to see an actual jersey from Adidas. I would imagine seeing that before or at the expansion draft next month.
Here]s a refresher of what that rendering looked like.
As a Seattleite myself and a Kraken season ticket member, I can’t wait to get more news and continue to share it here on Icethetics!
