Rebuilding the Ducks

I always love a concept where it’s plainly evident how much time and energy the artist poured into it. Elvis Lopez makes his debut on the Icethetics Concepts Showcase with an absolute beauty. I’ll allow him to explain. He writes:

I’ve been following your blog for quite a bit and I’ve always loved the content you’ve put out. Your recent videos have motivated me to submit my first concept!
This concept package is for an Anaheim Ducks rebrand. I’m a huge fan of the original Mighty Ducks logo and along with most Ducks fans, I wish the logo would return as the main identity for the Ducks. But until then, I’ve created what I think would be a great alternative to what they currently have.
Primary Logo I hadn’t really seen a Duck logo that had a fierce aspect to it. Most concepts I had seen regarding a Duck were very static and really seemed to have an unthreatening look and feel. My direction focused on a side view of the Duck that gave the logo a bit more movement and had the Duck look as if it was ready to charge at it’s opponent. I added a similar shape to the eyes as the original Mighty Ducks logo had to give it a bit of nostalgia and relation to the past as well as a very subtle D shape that plays with the shadow of the Duck’s head just as a subtle nod to the now D logo the Ducks currently have.
Secondary Logo This logo is what started it all for this rebrand. As I said I’m a huge Mighty Ducks logo fan, but I wanted to create something that featured the iconic Duck goalie mask while keeping things different from the original. In this case the primary logo came after this secondary logo.
Third Jersey The inspiration for this jersey came from team North America’s 2016 World Cup of Hockey home jerseys. I think this is one of the most amazing use of the color orange with the subtlety of the grey and the pattern used. On the sleeves of my third jersey I have a feather pattern in grey that I think plays really well with this Ducks jersey it adds that extra touch that pops and tells you “this is a third jersey.”
Primary Jerseys These concepts are similar to the third jersey but a bit more subtle, taking away the feather pattern. I love the Ducks use of black but I added a bit more to balance the bright contrast of the orange. I feel people sometimes give the orange jerseys too much hate because of how bright and attention grabbing they are so I implemented a black sleeve to the jerseys to help with that.
