On Wednesday, the Edmonton Oilers announced that fans will get a look their new alternate uniform on Saturday, September 14 at Fan Day. That tidbit was an afterthought in one line at the end of the press release detailing the event.

Fan Day will also be the first chance for fans to get a live view of the new Oilers third jersey, place pre-orders for the jersey and shop for third jersey merchandise.

This event will come more than a month after photos of the jersey began circulating following a leak via Adidas’ own online store back on August 10—which probably explains why the team used the phrase “live view” instead of “unveiling.” Everyone who’s interested has probably seen it already.

Based on that leak, we know the jersey will be navy blue with orange accents and a two-tone version of the primary logo as the crest. The jersey features no white at all, a first in Oilers history.

Our first official look at Edmonton’s new third will come a day after the Winnipeg Jets plan to unveil their new Heritage Classic sweater. Should make for an interesting weekend.
